Lacteol Forte: Presentation, Indications, Mechanism of Action, Dosage, Side Effects and Interactions

It is a natural medicine that belongs to the family of antidiarrheals of microbial origin.

Lactobacillus species are very varied. Lactobacilli are bacteria that benefit the body; they usually live in the digestive, genital, and urinary systems without causing any inconvenience.

These lactobacilli are found in fermented foods such as yogurt and dietary supplements.

Active ingredient of lacteol forte

Lacteal forte capsules contain the following active ingredients:

  • 80 mg of culture medium.
  • 10 billion acidophilic lactobacilli (Boucardii strain).

The active ingredients in the various trademarks may have other concentrations available.

Presentation

Sachets: 10 billion lyophilized lactobacilli per sachet, in a box of 6 sachets and a formulation adapted to children’s orange and banana flavor.

Capsules: 5 billion freeze-dried and freeze-dried lactobacilli per capsule in a box of 16 tablets.

 

Indications of lacteol forte

Lacteol forte is used for the treatment, control, prevention, and improvement of the following diseases, conditions, and symptoms:

  • Diarrhea .
  • Irritable bowel syndrome.
  • Strengthening the immune system.
  • Infections of the vagina.
  • Antibiotic treatments.
  • Sugar intolerance
  • Diarrhea is associated with hospitalization.
  • Cancer chemotherapy.
  • Long-lasting inflammation in the digestive tract.
  • Ulcers in the digestive tract.
  • Skin diseases in infants and children allergic to cow’s milk.

Mechanism of action

The lactobacilli contained in lactéol forte can adhere to the brush border cells of the intestinal mucosa.

Lacteal forte works by exclusion, preventing pathogens from adhering, colonizing, and extracting fluid.

By inhibiting the ability of pathogens to attach and invade these intestinal cells, lactéol forte works against the infectious process of diarrhea and stops symptoms quickly.

Its mechanism of action is a natural antidiarrheal activity in symbiosis with the intestinal ecosystem.

Lacteal forte also stimulates the growth of the acidogenic flora and the synthesis of immunoglobulin A.

Dose

In babies, children, and elderly patients, the initial dose is two sachets in the same amount and one sachet twice a day.

The initial dose is four capsules in the same amount and then two capsules twice a day in adults.

Side effects

Although they are not very frequent, there is the possibility of side effects with the use of lacteol forte. These side effects can be severe but rare:

  • Swelling.
  • Gases.

Warnings and Contraindications

Lacteal forte should not be administered in people with allergies or hypersensitivity to this drug or one of its components.

In addition, lacteol forte should not be used if you have the following conditions:

  • Hypersensitivity
  • Severe intestinal infection

Before using lacteal forte, the doctor should be informed of pre-existing diseases and current health conditions such as:

Interactions

If other medicines or over-the-counter products are taken simultaneously, the effects of lacteol forte may change.

All medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using should be informed to the physician so that the physician can assist in preventing or controlling interactions with other medicines.

Lacteol forte may interact with the following medications and products:

  • Antibiotic medications.
  • Immunosuppressants.

Lacteol forte should be taken at least 2 hours before or after antibiotics.
