Zaditen indications
Ketotifen is in a class of medications called asthma allergies and prophylactics.
This medication is used in combination with other medications to treat mild allergic asthma in children.
Ketotifen is an anti-allergy medicine that helps reduce asthma symptoms by reducing the body’s response to allergens (substances that cause allergic reactions).
These allergens can often trigger an acute asthma attack.
Mechanism of action
Ketotifen improves the patient’s condition by performing the following function: inhibiting the release of allergy-causing chemicals, histamines in the body by mast cells.
Dose
For children 6 months to 3 years of age, the usual recommended dose is based on body weight, 0.05 mg per kilogram of weight twice a day, in the morning and in the evening.
For children over 3 years of age, the usual recommended dose is 1 mg twice a day, in the morning and in the evening.
To reduce side effects, your doctor may suggest that you start with a lower dose and increase to the recommended dose after 5 days.
