It is an antianginal drug that has a protective effect on the cellular structure and functions of various tissues or organs.

Trimetazidine function

Trimetazidine reduces beta-oxidation of fatty acids by blocking long-chain 3-ketoacyl-Co Atiolase, which increases glucose oxidation.

Trimetazidine and stable angina

The efficacy of trimetazidine as an antianginal drug has been evaluated in randomized, placebo-controlled studies.

Several studies have tested the efficacy of trimetazidine and have shown that this agent is at least as effective and better tolerated than hemodynamic agents.
