Administration

The recommended dose for adults of Ciprofloxa tablets varies from 250mg to 750mg twice a day. Depending on the type of infection being treated, you may need to take Ciprofloxa for 3 to 14 days.

It may be necessary to take Ciprofloxa for up to 3 months for bone infections. For sexually transmitted diseases, the dose is administered once as a single dose.

Ciprofloxacin tablets can be taken with food or on an empty stomach. Drink plenty of fluids while taking Ciprofloxa and avoid dairy products.

Although Ciprofloxacin can be taken with milk foods, take this medication at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after taking other products that can join it, decreasing its effectiveness. Ask your pharmacist about the different effects you take.

Some examples include quinapril, sevelamer, sucralfate, vitamins/minerals (including iron and zinc supplements), and products that contain magnesium, aluminum, or calcium (such as antacids, didanosine solution, and calcium supplements).

Foods rich in calcium, including dairy products (such as milk and yogurt) or calcium-enriched juice, may also decrease the effect of this medication.

Take this medication at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after eating calcium-rich foods, unless you eat these foods as part of a larger meal that contains other foods (not rich in calcium). These other foods decrease the effect of calcium-binding.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist about the safe use of supplements / nutritional replacements with this medication.

You must take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Even if you start to feel better after treatment, finishing the total amount specified is essential.

This helps prevent the infection from coming back and is harder to treat. Store the tablets at room temperature and keep them out of the reach of children.

Store the oral suspension at room temperature or in the refrigerator in an upright position, protect it from freezing, and keep it out of the reach of children. After 14 days, safely discard any remaining medication.

Side effects

May cause nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, or trouble sleeping.

Tell your doctor if you have any severe side effects, including unusual bruising / bleeding or signs of a new infection (such as new/persistent fever, persistent sore throat).

Signs of kidney problems (such as a change in the amount of urine, red/pink urine), signs of liver problems (such as unusual tiredness, stomach / abdominal pain, persistent nausea/vomiting, yellow eyes/skin, dark urine).

However, seek medical attention immediately if you notice any of the following symptoms of a severe allergic reaction: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, and trouble breathing.

Do not use it later for another infection unless your doctor tells you to. Check with your doctor for more details.

Laboratory and medical tests (such as kidney function, blood counts, and cultures) should be done periodically to monitor their progress or detect side effects.

Do not change brands of this medication without consulting your doctor or pharmacist. Not all brands have the same effects.

Precautions

Before taking Ciproflox, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it or other quinolone antibiotics such as norfloxacin, gemifloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin or ofloxacin, or if you have any other allergies.

This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially:

Liver disease, mental/mood disorder (such as depression ), myasthenia gravis, nerve problems (such as peripheral neuropathy), seizures, and conditions that increase the risk of attacks (such as brain/brain injury, brain tumors, cerebral atherosclerosis ).

In rare cases, this medication can cause severe changes in your blood sugar level, especially if you have diabetes. ciproflox may increase the blood sugar-lowering effects of the drug glyburide.

This medicine contains sucrose and, therefore, it is not recommended if you suffer from a rare hereditary metabolic condition (such as fructose intolerance, sucrase-isomaltase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption).

Older adults may be more sensitive to the side effects of this medication, especially tendon problems (especially if they are also taking corticosteroids such as prednisone or hydrocortisone ) and QT prolongation.

Interactions

Some products that may interact with this medicine include: “anticoagulants” (such as acenocoumarol and warfarin ). This medicine may increase and prolong the effects of caffeine.

Avoid drinking large amounts of caffeinated beverages (coffee, tea, soda), eating large amounts of chocolate, or taking over-the-counter caffeine products.

Storage
