It is a drug indicated to relieve symptoms related to digestive problems caused by some foods or swallowing air, such as:
- Stomach heaviness
- Flatulence or gas.
It is also indicated as part of the treatment against pancreatic exocrine insufficiency , either:
- Chronic pancreatitis.
- Cystic fibrosis.
- Bile duct obstruction.
Zimeton Administration
It should be ingested as indicated on the medication package or leaflet or as directed by the pharmacist or treating physician.
It is recommended that the recommended daily doses are not exceeded because it can increase the chances of suffering from side effects. Its excessive use will not improve the condition.
It can be ingested after each meal, when discomfort begins or before going to sleep.
In the case of children or babies, it is recommended to use the dose in a dropper and place the liquid slowly in their mouth, just on the inside of the cheek to avoid losing the dosage. It is recommended to mix with 1 oz. of cold water or infant formula.
Side effects
This drug does not usually cause serious side effects, however, the patient should discontinue its use if they present the following symptoms:
- Abdominal pain.
- Threw up.
- Stomach ache.
- Dizziness
- Fainting.
- Drowsiness.
In case of poisoning the symptoms can be:
- Tingling in the extremities of the body.
- Sudden cough
- Nausea and vomiting
- Rash or hives on the skin.
- Difficulty breathing.
- Feeling of weakness
- Dizziness or lack of balance
- Headache.
- Elevated body temperature without presenting infection.
- Excessive itching in some areas of the body.
- Crying eyes.
- Swelling of the face, specifically around the eyes, cheekbones, lips or throat.
- Redness on the cheekbones.
- Fainting.
- Disorientation.
- Sudden drowsiness or after taking the medicine.
Zimeton could cause allergic reactions, so the patient should contact a doctor if they present all or some of the following symptoms:
- Hives, breakout, or skin rash.
- Localized swelling in the throat, tongue, around the eyes or lips.
- Difficulty breathing.
- Redness on the chest, neck, face and / or back.
- Difficulty breathing normally.
- Swallowing problems, such as saliva.
- Eyes sensitive to light and watery.
- Burning, tenderness, or itching of the skin.
- Draft or tingling sensation in the extremities of the body.
Caution
It is not known if Zimeton generates adverse reactions in pregnancy or development of the embryo or fetus, so the patient should inform her treating doctor that she is in condition before starting treatment to avoid short or long-term inconveniences that harm the unborn.
If the patient is breastfeeding it is prudent to ask her doctor if she can use Zimeton because the components of this medicine can pass into the milk and in turn to the baby when feeding.
In some cases, this medicine could cause drowsiness, which is why it is not recommended to drive heavy machinery or drive at night after ingesting Zimeton until at least a long period of time has passed to ensure if these effects can be counterproductive.
It is not recommended to combine alcoholic beverages with Zimeton, because this could generate adverse or counterproductive effects for the individual.
People suffering from stomach ulcers, digestive problems , gastritis, stomach cancer or hernias, should inform their treating doctor that they are to use Zimeton so that he can evaluate the circumstances and authorize or not its dosage.
People of advanced age are more prone to suffer from side effects, that is why they should follow the instructions of their treating doctor and not use extra doses even though the discomfort or discomfort does not improve.
Zimeton Storage
This medicine should not be refrigerated, or stored in spaces that contain moisture, heat or are exposed to sunlight. It should be kept under room temperature.
Zimeton cannot be within the reach of children or pets, because its use without medical supervision can generate harmful effects on the health of the person or animal.
