Propinox: Mechanism of Action, Dosage, Contraindications, Side Effects, Interactions and Storage

Treatment of abdominal colic includes pain relievers such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and antispasmodic agents.

Propinox is an antispasmodic drug frequently used to treat abdominal cramps and disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, uterus, and gallbladder. However, little is known about its relaxing activity in gallbladder tissue.

The term abdominal colic is used to describe spasmodic abdominal pain, which arises from enlargement, inflammation, or obstruction. It is often characterized as sharp, localized abdominal pain that increases, spikes, and subsides.

Although it is often a benign complaint, it can also signify more significant pathology. Therefore a careful medical history and physical examination are crucial to the approach to a differential diagnosis.

Mechanism of action of pro inox/pharmacokinetics

After administering a parenteral dose, the plasma half-life of lysine clonidine and pro inox is approximately 1 hour.

Lysine clonixinate is extensively metabolized, eliminating more than 60% of the administered dose in the urine, while pro inox is mainly excreted in the urine in unchanged form.

Propinox hydrochloride, also known as pargeverine hydrochloride, is an antispasmodic substance with a double mechanism of pharmacological action: musculotropic and anticholinergic.

Propinox also functions as a musculotropic agent, acting directly on visceral smooth muscle cells and conferring their antispasmodic activity. The anticholinergic (pro inox activity) is derived from a moderate and non-selective blockade of cholinergic muscarinic fibers.

Guiding initial treatment of overdose

Severe arousal symptoms can be managed with sodium thiopental 2% in solution by slow intravenous route. General care measures, maintenance of the airway and oxygenation, and adequate monitoring of vital signs should always be carried out.

In the event of an overdose, go to the hospital center closest to your home.

There are no verifiable cases of pro-inox overdose; However, before the excessive consumption of propinox, you should immediately consult a doctor.
