Definition and Introduction
Brazilian hair removal is the removal of pubic hair with a special wax, which can be hot or cold, which adheres to the hairs and removes them when the wax is quickly removed from the skin, usually with a strip of cloth.
While the practice is mainly associated with women, men also eliminate pubic hair.
A bikini line is the area of the upper leg and inner thigh where pubic hair grows that is not normally covered by the bottom of a swimsuit.
In some cultures, pubic hair visible in this region is disapproved and / or considered embarrassing, so it is sometimes eliminated.
However, some people remove pubic hair that will not be exposed for aesthetic purposes, personal grooming and hygiene, culture, fashion or other reasons.
Technique
Wax applied to the female pubic hair.
Additionally, pubic hair can be removed in several ways; waxed, shaved, with sugar, by electrolysis, laser hair removal or with chemical creams.
Waxing involves applying molten wax, usually hot, to the pubic hair that an individual wants to remove.
The wax, which adheres to the hair as it hardens, is covered with small strips of cloth. When the wax hardens enough, the fabric is quickly removed, removing the hair from its roots as the wax is removed.
Waxing can be done by yourself in private with a home kit or by a cosmetologist in a salon or spa.
recommendations
If a person has never used wax before, or has not been waxed for a long time, it may be necessary to trim pubic hair with scissors or an electric razor before waxing.
A patch test is recommended, usually on the upper part of the thigh, to detect allergies or skin sensitivity to the wax ingredients.
Sometimes, a hair growth inhibitor is applied after waxing, which slows down the regrowth of the hair if applied daily for a prolonged period of time.
It is common to apply an antiseptic cleanser and powder in the area before waxing. The wax is applied with a spatula in the direction of hair growth about the size of a strip about 5 cm (2 inches) wide and 4 inches (10 cm) long.
When the wax is tight but still flexible, the wax strips are pulled back against the direction of hair growth while keeping the skin tight. The strip is ideally pulled as fast as possible.
Some people modify their pubic hair to fit with society’s tendencies or simply as an expression of their own style or lifestyle, while others oppose any style or do not practice it because of cost considerations
The pubic area is one of the most sensitive areas in the body and during the procedure you must take special care to avoid irritation.
The pain directly resulting from the procedure can be mild or severe and can continue from several seconds to several minutes.
Some people experience less pain during subsequent treatments. It may be helpful to take a mild anti-inflammatory medication (such as ibuprofen) one hour before waxing to reduce the potential pain of waxing.
Products such as topical anesthetics are available to decrease the pain involved. A bikini wax during pregnancy is usually more painful, due to increased sensitivity.
The type of wax used for bikini lines is often made from a mixture of beeswax and tall oil instead of the more common synthetic waxes used for regular leg hair removal.
Beeswax is considered stronger and more effective in removing thicker pubic hair.
Sometimes growing bulbs or ingrown hairs can be the result of waxing.
Isolated hairs can be removed with tweezers or electrolysis. The discomfort that follows the procedure usually lasts two to five days or less.
The application of egg oil for a few days after waxing can help hydrate the skin and reduce inflammation, pain or the growth of bacteria.
With the repetition of pubic hair removal it becomes weaker and grows more slowly, which leads to easier removal with less pain and the use of wax less frequently.
Forget about the basic bikini wax. Brazilian wax – which entails the elimination of all intimate hair – has become a summer rite for some women.
In fact, many of us would not dare to put on a swimsuit before enduring the 30 or more minutes of physical torture that is needed to achieve the attractive, elegant, clean “look and what this style of hair removal has to offer.” .
There is no doubt that salon treatment is popular and even aesthetically pleasing, but is it healthy?
Being completely shaved can seem more hygienic than having pubic hair in all its splendor, but in reality, it is the opposite.
We have pubic hair for a reason, “says Whitney Bowe, MD, a dermatologist at Briarcliff Manor, NY and an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical School in New York City.
“Pubic hair acts as a shield against bacteria, allergens and other unwanted pathogens.” Clearing that natural barrier puts you at greater risk of irritation or infection in the vaginal area, Bowe explains.
And there are more germs, than we even think we know, lurking in the sand on the beach, the salt water, and the pool.
