Warnings
The use of the product should be interrupted if a sensitivity reaction or severe irritation occurs. If local anger is high, patients should be instructed to use the medication less frequently or discontinue temporary or permanent use. Differin should not contact eyes, lips, nose, and mucous membranes. If you have eye contact, you should wash immediately with plenty of warm water. The product should not be applied to damaged skin (cuts and abrasions), eczematous, or burned by the sun, and should not be used in patients with severe acne or applied to large areas of the skin.
In the case of previous treatment with other local exfoliants, it is recommended to wait until there is complete skin recovery before starting treatment with Differin. Exposure to sunlight or sun lamps should be minimized during treatment. Patients exposed to the sun or those who are very sensitive should be careful in using the product.
Avoid sun exposure as much as possible; it is recommended to wear a hat and sunscreen according to your doctor’s criteria. In case of potential exposure to the sun, such as a trip to the beach, do not use the product the day before, the day of the exhibition, or the next day. If a burn occurs, allow the skin to recover before restarting Differin.
Use during pregnancy
As well as, all-new medicines should not be used during pregnancy and should be discontinued in case of finding or suspected pregnancy. Pregnant women should not use this medicine without consulting a doctor. It is recommended to avoid use in women who are breastfeeding. If prescribed, the product should not be used on the chest to prevent contact with the child.
Differin interactions
There are no known interactions with the use of Differin in the skin. However, retinoids or other drugs with a similar mode of action should not be used simultaneously with Adapalene. Consult your doctor. Adapalene is poorly absorbed by the skin; it is unlikely that it can interact with medications for systemic use. Differin has a slight possibility of local irritation so that the user may generate flaking, as well as abrasive cleaners, astringents, or irritants (containing alcohol or fragrance) can produce additional irritant effects. Anti-acne treatments, such as erythromycin (up to 4%), clindamycin phosphate (up to 1% in base), or an aqueous gel of benzoyl peroxide (up to 10%) can be used in the morning when Differin is used at night,
Adverse side effects/reactions to the use of Differin
Irritation, stinging, and heat sensation may occur at the application site. Wrath of the skin is reversible when in the treatment; the frequency is reduced or interrupted.
Differin – Dosage
Differin should be applied in the areas affected by acne once a day before bedtime. Wash and dry the skin. Apply a thin layer of Differin, avoiding the eyes, lips, nose and mucous membranes. In cases where it is necessary to reduce the frequency of application or even temporarily interrupt the treatment, you can do so, then return to the proposed scheme according to the patient’s tolerance to treatment. The first signs of improvement usually appear after 4 to 8 weeks of treatment, resulting in an additional improvement over three months.
The skin safety of Differin was demonstrated in studies lasting six months. Patients can use cosmetics during treatment, provided they are not comedogenic or astringent. The safety and efficacy of use in children under 12 years of age have not been evaluated, and in older adults, it is left to medical criteria.
Pharmacological characteristics
Adapalene’s pharmacodynamic properties are a retinoid-type compound that has demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties. Adapalene is essentially stable to oxygen and light and is chemically unreactive. Tretinoin binds to nuclear receptors specific for retinoic acid, but tretinoin differs by not attaching to cytosolic binding proteins.
