It has the strength to disinfect and heal the skin or area affected by fungi, bacteria, or other infections.
Barmicil is composed of three powerful medications whose action provides the effects of total healing of the problem area on the skin.
Components of barbicel cream
The components are:
- Clotrimazole: it is a substance that is used to eliminate all types of fungi, and that also works by stopping their growth and spread.
- Betamethasone: used to decrease inflammation and pain. Betamethasone is a corticosteroid for cutaneous use with potent anti-inflammatory activity and antipruritic effect.
- Gentamicin: This belongs to a group of drugs known as aminoglycoside antibiotics. Aminoglycoside antibiotics work by preventing the growth of bacteria and killing them.
Skin diseases or infections are frequent and diverse, so the use of barbicel is an excellent ally to control and heal them.
Indications of barmicil cream
The medicine barbicel is indicated to treat skin conditions such as:
- Contact dermatitis.
- Atopic dermatitis.
- Eczema.
- Lichen planus.
- Insect bites.
- Burns.
- Psoriasis.
- Diaper rash.
- Alopecia areata.
- Mycosis fungoides.
- Dermatophytosis.
- Yeast or yeast infections, including onychomycosis and athlete’s foot.
- Acne.
- Tinea versicolor: change in the appearance of the skin and discoloration of various body areas (back, chest, armpits, neck, others).
- Candidiasis.
- Dermatitis from excessive sun exposure.
- Hemorrhoids.
- Other infections
Barmicil cream dosage
Barmicil is usually applied twice a day, morning and evening, or as prescribed by the doctor.
The effects of barmicil can be evident since a white layer appears on the affected area where the cream is applied.
This cream can be applied to children from 2 years of age. However, it should be used with caution as it may cause a greater risk of side effects.
If you do not notice the healing of the affected area within four weeks of using the barbicel, consult your doctor again.
Allow the cream to absorb before covering and wait at least 1 hour before washing the area after application.
General precautions and warnings about barmicil cream.
- According to the FDA, the drug barbicel has category C (Food and Drug Administration). This is due to the compounds betamethasone and gentamicin. Given this categorization, barbicel is not recommended in pregnant women.
- In the same way, this medicine can cause changes or effects on breast milk production. If its use is necessary, it is recommended only for a short time and in minimal quantities.
- Barmicil cream is for topical use only.
- Barmicil should not be applied in tuberculous conditions or viral diseases like chickenpox or herpes simplex.
- Nor should it be administered during flu processes due to its betamethasone content.
- Avoid alcohol consumption because gentamicin is excreted by the kidneys and liver, which can complicate ingesting alcohol.
- Prolonged treatment with barmicil cream can cause local atrophic skin changes.
- A periodic review should be made of the need to continue therapy with barmicil cream.
Contraindications of barmicil cream
This drug is contraindicated in people with a history of hypersensitivity or allergies to one of the components (betamethasone, clotrimazole, gentamicin, or excipients).
Possible side effects of barmicil cream
Side effects are not generally reported by people who use barbicel cream. However, some may occur, especially when occlusive bandages are placed on the affected areas after applying the cream or where skin folds are involved.
Side effects can, if they appear, can vary from person to person.
These side effects can be:
- Folliculitis.
- Itching .
- Miliaria.
- Urticaria.
- Irritation.
- Redness
- Eruptions
- Dryness.
- Stretch marks.
- Secondary infections.
- Ardor.
- Thinning of the skin.
- Loss of elasticity.
- Dilation of superficial blood vessels.
- Telangiectasia.
- Equimosis.
Drug interactions of barmicil cream
No interactions of barmicil cream with other drugs have been reported to date.
Storage and conservation of barmicil cream.
- Store at a temperature below 30 degrees C.
- The cream should always be kept closed after use.
- Keep out of the reach of children.
